Consist team wins renowned Splunk award

IT specialists from Consist Software Solutions GmbH win the "Boss of the SOC" award at this year's .conf of Splunk in Las Vegas.

Kiel – Las Vegas – A team of experts from Consist Software Solutions GmbH participated very successfully in the well-known "Boss of the SOC" (BOTS for short) competition on July 17, 2023 at the .conf23 and achieved the coveted first place. The .conf is the annual user conference of Splunk that took place in Las Vegas from July 17 to 20, 2023.

During the BOTS, security specialists from all over the world solve demanding challenges related to current threat scenarios with the help of Splunk. As in prior years, the eighth BOTS was also designed as a jeopardy-style capture-the-flag contest. The participants competed against each other as blue teams and had to answer numerous questions. This year's task was to assume the role of a security analyst, who was required to protect their organization from a new advanced persistent threat (APT) group. In addition to the APT, the focus was on key topics such as SOAR (security orchestration and automated response) and web application attacks. The new web application attack scenario required successful defense against web application attacks on modern application architectures.

During the competition, the Consist experts scored impressively with both their speed and accuracy, ultimately beating 129 other top international teams.

Thus, the Splunk consultants from Consist have once again demonstrated their expertise: top places in all participations since 2016, winning the Boss of the SOC in 2017 and 2023.
